Thank you!

Moments ago, I called Lieutenant Governor Polito to congratulate her on her re-election.

Tonight did not turn out how we had hoped but I am so proud of the campaign we have run. From the beginning, this campaign has been about combatting poverty and inequality, standing up for vulnerable populations, and fighting for social justice. It has been about what role Massachusetts should play during a time when our American values are under attack. And it has been about building a genuinely grassroots campaign that respects, empowers, and includes volunteers and voters from all parts of the Commonwealth.

Over the course of the last fourteen months, we have built a grassroots organization in every part of the state, earned the endorsement of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, received more than 305,000 votes in the primary, and — along with the inspiring Jay Gonzalez for Governor — almost a million votes today.

In the next few days, I will reach back out to invite you to a party where I can properly express my gratitude to all of you for the work that you have put into this campaign. And to thank our terrific team led by Jessica Schauer Lieberman for building this campaign from a mere idea into a robust statewide organization.

But, for now, I would like to say two things.

First, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing in me and supporting me, and for joining with me to promote a set of ideas that we can all be proud of about the kind of state and country we want to live in. We fell short today but we can hold our heads high about the kind of campaign we ran.

And second, this is the beginning — not the end — of our work together to combat poverty and inequality, stand up for vulnerable populations, and fight for social justice. We will continue working for the ideals we believe in. And I have never been more committed to working on them with you.

Thank you.

Fired up. Ready to go.

Quentin
